Softrucks

Softrucks approached me to take on a pretty cool challenge - design and engineer the first skateboard trick trainer to mimic the feel of a skateboard (weight, flex, shape) but without all the roll.

Flipped around to make a complete deck.

Softrucks required a "simple tool" (two cavity with shutoffs... no sliding cores). The built-in flex to simulate the truck movement resolved into a big design element - the open cavity on the ends flexed without compromising the strength.

Competitors have come and gone. Softrucks is still the market segment leader, but we forgot to plan for obsolescence, the Softrucks last a lifetime... whoops.
